Mourning

IN MOURNING - A CONVERSATION BETWEEN A SISTER AND A BROTHER

Exploring themes of familial conflict and change, I remove visual stimulation and force focus on the words and sounds of the Mourner’s Kaddish.   A prayer primarily used to acknowledge the loss of a loved one is repeated from one sibling to the other, with no reference to specific identity as a representation of saying goodbye to ones old self in efforts to embrace the new one.  Highlighting what a family experiences when a member transitions and grows into their new identity.
