Abigail Rothman is a multidisciplinary artist utilizing drawing, print, video, installation, and interactive works that engage the viewer through current events and personal experiences. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, and eventually relocating to New Jersey, Rothman began studying a traditional art education with a strong emphasis on figure drawing and painting in high school. In college, her work became more heavily concept based and shifted into other media. She walks the line between traditional and experimental exploration of various themes and mediums.
Rothman’s sophomore year at TCNJ, she participated in a group show titled Off the Palette, in which she displayed one figurative painting in the art gallery on campus. That same year the painting was displayed in the front entrance of the TCNJ Art and Interactive Multimedia (AIMM) Building along with two other student’s work. In Fall 2018 she opened her first solo exhibition titled “Fake News: Donald Dump, Yuge Mess” on display from November 14 - 23 in the AIMM Building Gallery 119. In Spring 2019 she will participate in the Senior BFA exhibition, followed by her graduation.
